Centre for Evidence-Based Mental Health (CEBMH)

The remit of the CEBMH has been two-fold: to promote the teaching and practice of evidence-based health care (EBHC) throughout the UK (with special emphasis on evidence-based mental health) and internationally; and to develop, evaluate, and disseminate improved methods of using research in practice, and incorporate these in the teaching methods of the CEBMH.

Dementia Research Centre

The Dementia Research Centre, based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, is one of the UK’s leading centres for clinical research into dementia, and the hospital is the lead centre for trialling new drugs to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Institute of Alcohol Studies

The Institute’s main work is based around helping to bridge the gap between the scientific evidence on alcohol and the wider public.It wants to make all of this evidence accessible to anyone with an interest in alcohol – politicians, reporters, health professionals, students, youth workers and others – and to advocate for effective responses that will reduce the toll of alcohol in society.

Institute of Psychiatry

The Institute of Psychiatry provides post-graduate education and carries out research in psychiatry, psychology, and allied disciplines, including basic and clinical neurosciences. The Institute is world renowned for the quality of its research and it became a school of King’s College in August 1997.

Centre for Mental Health

The Centre for Mental Health works to improve the quality of life for people with mental health problems by influencing policy and practice in mental health and related services. It focuses on criminal justice and employment, with supporting work on broader mental health and public policy.

Mental Health Foundation

Founded in 1949, the Mental Health Foundation is a leading UK charity that is committed to reducing the suffering caused by mental ill health and to helping everyone lead mentally healthier lives. The charity helps people to survive, recover from and prevent mental health problems. It does this by: carrying out research; developing practical solutions for better mental health services; campaigning to reduce stigma and discrimination; and promoting better mental health for all.
