YoungMinds Newsletter – March 2023
Welcome to your March YoungMinds e-newsletter! It shouldn’t take more than five minutes to enjoy all this month’s stories.
We’ve appointed a new Chief Executive!
We’re incredibly excited to announce that Laura Bunt will be joining us as our new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the end of this month. Laura is currently at Public Digital, a digital consultancy, having previously been Deputy Chief Executive at With You, a charity for people experiencing issues with alcohol, drugs or their mental health. Laura is also a trustee at Samaritans, a charity who provide support for anyone struggling to cope.
YoungMinds trustees and young people from across our programmes led the recruitment process for our new CEO. It was vital that young people had a voice in this process, given that they are at the heart of everything we do. It was equally important to ensure that our new CEO shared our values, vision and commitment to Anti-Racism, Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. We believe we’ve found all that in Laura!

Invite your MP to our event in Parliament this March
Last month we told you how the Government broke their promise of a ten-year Mental Health Plan in favour of the ‘Major Conditions Strategy’ – a new plan that wraps mental health up with other conditions like cancer and Alzheimer’s disease instead of focusing on mental health in its entirety. This month, we’re here to help you channel your frustration into action. On March 20th, we’re hosting a Young People’s Lobby in Parliament – bringing young people, MPs and other decision makers together to #EndTheWait for better mental health support. We’ve booked the room. We’ve written the invite to MPs. Now we just need you to send it. Will you spare just two minutes to invite your local MP to our event?
Already sent your invite? Spread the word and let’s get more MPs in the room!⬇️
