The Child Bereavement Charity (CBC) is a leading UK charity that supports families and educates professionals both when a child dies and when a child is bereaved. Currently the charity trains around 5,000 professionals each year across health care, social care, education, the emergency services and the voluntary sector. It also provides a national support and information service, award-winning resources, and an interactive website with an online forum for bereaved families.
The Childhood Bereavement Network (CBN) is a national, multi-professional federation of organisations and individuals working with bereaved children and young people. It involves and is actively supported by all the major bereavement care providers in the UK.
Cruse Bereavement Care is the major UK charity offering support to bereaved people, whatever their situation. Cruse Bereavement Care exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Public Health England’s ‘Help is at Hand’ Guide
People who have been bereaved by suicide have used their experiences to lead the revision of a support guide to help others affected by someone taking their own life.
RD4U is a website designed for young people by young people. It is part of Cruse Bereavement Care’s Youth Involvement Project and is here to support people after the death of someone close. RD4U means the ‘road for you’ – the main aim of the site is to let people find their own ‘road’ to dealing with their loss.
Royal College of Psychiatrists
Readable and well-researched information on bereavement for the public from The Royal College of Psychiatrists. This information can be found in leaflets, books and on audio cassette.
Samaritans provides confidential non-judgemental emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide. Samaritans offer their service by telephone, email, letter and face to face in most of our branches. Samaritans is available to anyone in the UK and Ireland. Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide
Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide exists to meet the needs and break the isolation of those bereaved by the suicide of a close relative or friend. It is a self-help organisation offering emotional and practical support in a number of ways: confidential telephone helpline; support information; help by e-mail; group meetings (in a number of locations); one-day conferences; residential events; information relating to practical issues and problems.
The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is an organisation of bereaved parents and their families offering understanding, support and encouragement to others after the death of a child or children. It also offers support, advice and information to other relatives, friends and professionals who are helping the family.
