Linskill’s Community Grapevine – 27 October 2023

Make sure you save the date for our Homemade Christmas Craft Fair on Thursday 7th December.

Not only will you be able to pick up bespoke, handmade items produced by our community groups, but you can also enjoy a cuppa and festive treat whilst watching the following craft demonstrations from our amazing volunteers.

  • 11am       Easy to make modern table centre
  • 11.30am  Teabag folded greetings card
  • 12 noon   Easy to sew finger pin cushion
We are also running a tombola with all proceeds being donated to the Trust’s 2023 charity ‘Support and Grow North East’, who give immediate crisis relief and care in terms of clothing and food to familes living in North Tyneside. And this is where we need your help….
  • We are collecting new, pre loved unopened items for the tombola such as wine, chocolates, crafty bits, toys, smellies etc.  Please bring any donations to Linskill Reception.
  • We need some help on the day with refreshments and keeping everything tidy. Please email community.programme@linskill.org if you would like to get involved.

It’s not too late – it’s today
KEEP LEARNING – Passkeys

Passkeys have been called the “password killer” – find our more from Dr. James Nicholson from Northumbria University. This session will cover what passkeys are, their strengths and weaknesses, and how they can be set up and used. There will be plenty of time for questions throughout.

KEEP LEARNING- Heritage Talk
Newcastle 18th century, three school boys who rose to great importance changing the course of history. You know their names, you have walked their streets but what about the men they became – learn the interesting facts and the connection between them.

* This is not a talk regarding Grainger, Clayton nor Dobson but three other very famous characters.

There is a small charge of £4 which is payable in advance.

This talk will be hosted at Battle Hill Multi-Use Centre – if you haven’t been there before the 306 bus stop is just a minutes walk away and there is street parking outside and close to the centre.

Finally, grab a cuppa for the latest tale from The Scribblers by Carolyn Gillis titled My First Love. You can read more stories by Carolyn and other members of the group in their latest publication ‘Scribblers Let Loose’ – copies are just £4 from Linskill Reception.
