Costa Memory

poetry

Coffee smells, as food creates a medium Americano moment on the side.
Sociably sitting in Italian colours,
Variety is the spice.
Sugar and milk add sweetness and light,
Spoons, cups and waiters collide.
Isomorphic relaxation, within leather interiors.

Selected photographs taken at North Tyneside World Mental Health Day 2015 celebrations.

Follow this link to a short video uploaded by Steve Cowgill from Key Enterprises, one of the organisers of the North Tyneside World Mental Health Day 2015 event.

North Tyneside World Mental Health Day will be held on October 9th 2015 between 11am to 8pm at Cullercoats Crescent Club. This years theme is DIGNITY.

We’ll provide lunch and evening buffets at 12.15 and 5.30pm.

Throughout the day there will be creative, fun, thought provoking activities and opportunities to share experiences of mental health issues and service provision.

We have also secured fantastic prizes for a raffle, to help us cover our costs including: a refurbished bike (to fit your needs); days out; hampers; and gift vouchers.

If you or your organisation would like to donate any funds or prizes, they would be gratefully received. All Funds collected will go to cover our costs and any surplus will go towards future events or activities for Service Users and Carers in North Tyneside. Please also see the attached letter.

Due to space constraints you can send/bring your organisational leaflets and publicity and they will be displayed on tables and you can put up posters on the wall. However, if you want to provide a service or activity we can provide space for that, but not the usual market-stall type thing, just tables with info unless you can provide an activity. Please get in touch to discuss further if needed and Please arrive early if you are dropping off leaflets on the day.

The shape of the day

Time to Change – Public Attitudes Towards Mental Health Are Improving

Time to Change wanted to say a big thank you to you all for your tireless campaigning to end mental health stigma, as new data launched today shows improvements in public attitudes over the last three years.

The National Attitudes to Mental Illness survey shows a 6% improvement in attitudes since 2011 when phase 2 of Time to Change began. It also shows a record number of people in England saying they would be willing to live, work and have a relationship with someone who has experience of a mental health problem.

Take a look at the results here.

Physical Activity and Exercise (5 opportunities)

exercise

Exercise releases chemicals in your brain that make you feel good. Regular exercise can also boost your self-esteem and help you concentrate, sleep, look and feel better.

Being active doesn’t have to mean going to the gym, taking up jogging or wearing Lycra. There are lots of ways to be active – and they don’t need to cost much money.
