Rethink Mental Illness News – January 2020
Happy New Year from all of us at Rethink Mental Illness.
As we head into 2020, there are lots of ways you can get involved to help us improve the lives of people severely affected by mental illness: we’ve rounded up some key dates for your diary below, and we’ll email you each month to let you know what’s happening.
2020 will be a busy year for campaigning to improve mental health care. We are preparing to launch our new campaign on social care in the coming months which will focus on ensuring that people living with severe mental illness and their carers get the support they need from the system and shape any reforms to how social care works. We’ll be lobbying to make sure people get the help they need when they are too unwell to work and help to stay in work when that’s what they need.
We are also expecting the government to publish a White Paper setting out their plans on how they will reform the Mental Health Act, which we will be working to influence and will be pushing for that to happen as soon as possible.
